The Meta Pixel app allows you to connect your Prodigy checkout to an existing Meta Pixel.
Meta Pixel helps businesses understand how customers interact with their website after viewing or clicking an advertisement on Facebook or Instagram. This information can be used to measure advertising performance, understand conversions, and improve future campaigns.
Connecting Meta Pixel to Prodigy
To get started, navigate to Apps from the left sidebar menu and select Meta Pixel (ex. Facebook).
On the app configuration page, enter your Pixel ID in the Meta Pixel Account field.
After you enter an ID, the Enable button in the upper-right corner will become available.
Click Enable to connect the app.
If the app has already been enabled and you are updating its configuration, click Save instead.
Finding Your Meta Pixel ID
Before connecting the app, make sure you already have a Meta Business account and an existing Meta Pixel.
To locate the Pixel ID:
Open the Meta Business Suite, and in the left hand menu, select All Tools.
Then, under the Advertise or Frequently Used section, locate Events Manager.
Then, in the left hand menu, select Datasets.
Lastly, once you do so, you can find your Meta Pixel account ID either under your Pixel's name in the left menu, or under the Dataset ID within your Pixel's information.
Then, copy and paste that ID back into Prodigy Commerce, and click Enable.
Note: The Dataset ID and Pixel ID are the same value.
Tracking the Full Storefront Experience
Enabling the Meta Pixel app in Prodigy adds tracking to the Prodigy checkout experience.
To measure the complete customer journey—from clicking an advertisement, browsing products, and adding items to the cart through completing checkout—the same Meta Pixel must also be installed on the WordPress storefront.
Installing Meta Pixel in WordPress requires additional configuration outside the Prodigy Cloud Platform.
Without the WordPress installation, Meta may recognize that a customer clicked an advertisement, but Prodigy will not begin recording that customer's store activity until they reach checkout.
With Meta Pixel installed on both WordPress and Prodigy, it can help measure activity across the storefront and checkout, including product browsing, cart activity, and completed purchases.
That's everything you need to know about Meta Pixel.
