A Product Personalization is a group of custom fields that can be added to products to collect custom information required to produce the product. This can be useful for products like business cards, name badges, and uniforms that require custom input from the customer when purchasing the product.
To view the product personalization settings, navigate to Settings -> Product Personalization in the left menu.
Creating a product personalization
To create a new product personalization, click on the Add Product Personalization button.
Then in the General Information section, give the personalization a Title and if you want to charge the customer an extra amount to add the personalization, you can enter a dollar or percentage amount that will be added to the product's base price.
After entering the general information, click on the Add Personalization button to add your first field.
You will then see the options to enter the Label, Maximum Number of Characters, and Default Text. You can also make the field required by toggling the Required switch, which will make it so a customer can't add a product with this personalization to a cart without filling in a value for this field.
At the bottom of the first personalization field, you will see a button to add an additional personalization field. You can repeat this step as many times as necessary until you have created all of the fields for this personalization group.
Adding a personalization to a product
The next step is to add the personalization that you created to one or more products in your store. If you go into the product edit screen of a product that you want to add the personalization to, you will see a section with the title Product Personalization. First click on the switch to enable the feature for the product and then click on the Add Personalization button.
You will then see a modal window with a dropdown that will allow you to select the personalization that you want to add to the product. After making your selection, click the Add Personalization button.
Finally, save changes to the product by clicking the Save Changes button at the top right of the screen. If you navigate to the product on the storefront, you will then see the product personalization fields displayed just above the Add to Cart button.
